NewRez does not publish a public payoff-request fax number. Its official channels are the online account (Payments → Request Payoff), an automated phone line, and customer service.
What to include in your NewRez request
- NewRez loan number
- Property address on the loan
- Borrower name(s) as they appear on the mortgage
- Good-through / payoff date requested
- Return contact information (phone and email or mailing address)
- For third parties: a borrower-signed authorization to release information

How NewRez payoff requests work
NewRez LLC (which also services loans under the Shellpoint Mortgage Servicing name) handles payoff requests primarily through its online account and phone lines. If you are logged in, the cleanest path is Payments → Request Payoff, which lets you pick a good-through date and receive the statement without waiting on hold.
If you prefer the phone, the automated payoff line is 866-317-2347 and general customer service is 888-673-5521. Have your loan number and property address ready.
Importantly, NewRez does not publish a public payoff fax number. Several third-party "payoff request" sites list fax numbers for NewRez or Shellpoint that we could not confirm on NewRez’s official site, so we do not repeat them here. If a written, faxed request is unavoidable (for example, a title company that needs a documented submission), call NewRez first and ask for the correct destination for a written payoff request.
Third-party & escrow requests
Because NewRez does not publish a payoff fax, title and escrow agents should authenticate through the borrower’s authorization and request the payoff online or via customer service at 888-673-5521. If NewRez asks for a written authorization, faxing that signed authorization can be a legitimate follow-up, but confirm the correct destination fax with NewRez first — do not use numbers found on aggregator sites.

The federal 7-business-day rule
Under federal law (12 C.F.R. § 1026.36(c)(3)), servicers of closed-end consumer mortgages must generally provide an accurate payoff statement within seven business days of receiving a written request from the borrower or a person acting on the borrower’s behalf. Reasonable exceptions apply (for example, loans in bankruptcy or foreclosure), so submitting your request in writing and keeping your fax confirmation is the best way to start the clock.
